What about fiber?
Carnivore usually provides little or no fiber. WHO recommends fiber-rich foods as part of a healthy diet. Some carnivore eaters report feeling comfortable without them, but that does not overturn population guidance. Persistent bowel changes deserve medical attention. WHO healthy diet guidance.
What about cholesterol?
In the 2021 carnivore survey, a subset reported elevated LDL cholesterol. Good triglycerides or feeling well do not make that irrelevant. Discuss lipid results and overall cardiovascular risk with your clinician. Read the survey.
Do we have long-term evidence?
Evidence remains limited. A 2026 scoping review describes unresolved questions about long-term effects and possible nutritional risks. A survey or personal success story cannot establish safety over decades. Read the scoping review.
Why does mainstream advice differ?
WHO recommends a varied diet including vegetables, fruit, pulses, and whole grains, and limiting saturated fat. Carnivore departs substantially from that advice. I find its practical appeal worth discussing, but readers should know that disagreement exists. Read the mainstream guidance.
Does it cure disease?
This site makes no claim that carnivore cures, treats, or prevents disease. Someone reporting an improvement is describing an experience. Keep medical care and medication decisions with your care team.
Is it for everyone?
No. A restrictive diet needs individual assessment, especially for children, during pregnancy, with an eating-disorder history, or with an existing condition. You can choose a different way to eat without having failed.
